Residential care shaped around your choices

The staff take so much interest in me as a person

It can be a daunting time when the subject of care is first raised and the term itself may conjure up negative connotations.  You may feel you don’t require care, or you may be unsure about what is involved.

Care today is very different, and, here at William Simpsons, it’s all about you – your choices, your preferences and you letting us know what you would like to do each day. Modern, person-centred care puts the power and freedom of choice firmly in your hands.

Care is an opportunity to take some time out for a short break in respite care or enjoy the space and support needed for rehabilitation to get you back on your feet and back to independent living.

For the longer term, it is caring support that promotes your personal independence and encourages your choices. It is the safety net which enables you to enjoy a fulfilling life that is lived on your terms.

Interested in finding out more about respite, rehabilitation or residential care?  Come and visit us, have a look around, and find out what we can offer that fits your lifestyle, choices and interests.  You may be more open to care than you think.

Take a stroll around our Home

Our beautiful Home in Stirlingshire, Scotland has been located in the rural village of Old Plean since 1836.

Set within six acres of well-maintained grounds, William Simpsons affords a sense of country living whilst being only a short, 20-minute drive from the city of Stirling and town of Falkirk, with amenities available right on our doorstep.

We relocated from the original historical building in 2011 into our modern, purpose-built home, which offers the benefits of small group living for up to eight residents in each flat.  Within each flat, every resident has their own spacious ensuite bedroom.  The bedrooms are light and airy with full length window and beautiful views of the surrounding grounds, countryside and Ochil Hills. This is your space and can be decorated and furnished to your taste.

Your spacious new room is freshly decorated

Ready for you to dress it to your own taste

And put your own personal stamp on your space

The communal areas of each flat consist of a well-appointed, comfortably furnished lounge area with smart TVs, Alexa sound systems and patio doors leading onto either an upstairs balcony area or a downstairs sun room.  This allows those residents who smoke to do safely and without impact on the non-smoking residents.  Adjacent to the open plan lounge area is a well-stocked kitchenette enabling residents to enjoy refreshments and light snacks throughout the day. There is also a comfortable dining area, laid out with small tables for residents to enjoy meals in the company of their friends.

A short walk through the walled garden brings you to the historical Victorian Lodge House, which is where our respite service is located. The interior of the building has been tastefully refurbished to meet the exacting standards required for modern care and provides spacious community living for up to eight adults.  Each service user can enjoy the privacy of their own ensuite room with garden views, and we have a double room that can accommodate couples wishing to use our services.  As in the Main Home, the lounge and dining areas within the House are equipped with smart TVs, Alexa sound systems and comfortable seating to make you feel at home.  The kitchen area is fitted out with smart equipment and surface to ensure the facility is fully accessible to everyone.

Additionally, we have an onsite laundry service which takes care of all your laundry needs and an onsite kitchen creates delicious and nutritious meals for you to enjoy.

What’s life like as part of a supported community?

William Simpsons is like a wee mini-village where all the residents
are different but all gel together

Each of our flats has its own dedicated staff team, so you will get to know them quickly and they will soon come to feel like friends.

Within the flat itself you have the best of both worlds, you can close your door for privacy and peace, or you can find company and conversation within the communal areas of the flat whenever you want.

Our community flats are resided in by people of all ages, genders, backgrounds and abilities which makes for a broad spread of interests and experiences.  Meals are mostly served in the dining area within the flat but can be enjoyed in your room if you prefer and the kitchenette can be used at any time to prepare a light snack or a hot drink.
