Tailored support

Truly tailored support: because every person has a right to live their best life

"I am treated with care and respect as a person, not just as a patient"
- Chris, Resident

Every resident or service user at William Simpsons is an individual, and has individual preferences and needs.

Tailored Support for Joe

Individualised Care for Helen

Joe is a young man of 32 with a mental health diagnosis.  When he first joined our community, Joe found it difficult to engage with staff or other residents and kept to himself.  Whilst maintaining respect for Joe’s right to privacy, staff engaged and began to re-build his confidence and sense of self-worth.  Joe now regularly joins his flat mates for meals and group activities.  Joe’s love of football is shared by many within the home; he and his friends have attended local matches, toured stadiums and enjoy a kick around on our pitch.

Helen is 47 and is affected by advancing memory loss and cognitive impairment.  Staff work with Helen to ensure she is able to maximise her independence and make her own choices.  Helen enjoys a wide variety of stimulating pastimes and activities based around her life experiences and the things she enjoys. Helen’s life story and her preferences and interests are recorded within her care plan to ensure staff can provide support and care which is truly tailored around Helen herself.

Putting you at centre of your care and support

"Staff always involve me in decisions"
- Janet, Resident

Care is simply more effective when it’s genuinely about you.

This is why everything we do at William Simpsons puts you firmly at the centre of your own care and support.

You are consulted regarding medical matters and your voice is heard and acknowledged.

It’s your choices and preferences which shape your day, from the time you choose to get up to how you spend your time. This is your life and at William Simpsons, it is a life lived your way.

Our experienced staff are here to help you

"I don't see them as members of staff, I talk to them the way I talk to my family or friends"
- Chris, Resident

Working in care is a vocation and a career to be proud of and the William Simpsons team are passionate about and dedicated to the roles they work in.

All staff undertake a rolling and comprehensive program of theoretical and practical training to ensure knowledge is up to date. Wherever a resident may be in the home, there is always help is always near at hand.

Each community flat has its own dedicated staff team and we use electronic care planning and medication systems to ensure your records are updated in real time so that the team can support you effectively.

Activity Co-ordinators form part of the essential care team within each flat.  They will arrange and organise activities based around your interests and hobbies, which can take place on a one-to-one basis, as part of a small group with your flatmates, as a larger group event, or even as an excursion further afield.

William Simpsons is only a part of your health and wellbeing support network.  We work closely with you and your GP, social worker, other health care specialists and support organisations to ensure you receive the best outcomes possible.
